International Social Service Germany at the ISS International Council Meeting in Bulgaria

This week, the International Social Service (ISS) International Council Meeting 2026 took place, featuring a reception at the Swiss Embassy in Bulgaria attended by the German ambassador.

The International Council is the General Assembly of ISS and the network’s highest decision-making body. It is held every two years and brings together the presidents and directors of ISS member organisations from around the world.

Representing the German Association for Public and Private Welfare (Deutscher Verein für öffentliche und private Fürsorge e.V., DV), Heiko Naß, a member of the DV Executive Committee, regional pastor, and spokesperson for the board of Diakonie Schleswig-Holstein, as well as Chair of the ISD Standing Committee (President of ISS Germany), and Marc Bauer, Head of AF I / ISD (Director of ISS Germany), attended the meeting.

We are also pleased to announce that the former Head of AF I / ISD, Ursula Rölke, was unanimously elected as a member of the ISS Governing Board.
